Following the success of the first two National Obstacle Series (NOS) events earlier in the year, OPAL and Sabco Sports have partnered to host the ‘OPAL National Obstacle Series’ on October 19th, 2018 at Jebel Sifah; Muscat’s leading getaway destination. The unique event is the largest inflatable obstacle series in the Middle East featuring nine state-of-the art, custom made obstacles placed over a 3km course.
Challenging – yet appealing – to families and athletes alike, the event will take place at one of Oman’s up-and-coming leisure and sports destinations, Jebel Sifah. Starting at the marina from 1pm onwards, the season opening event will feature a team challenge, relay challenge, and endurance, and timed races. It will also include the OPAL 10K run and a golf competition.
Designed for the entire family to enjoy, the fun day out continues well after all races are completed with a selection of great food, beverages, entertainment, live music and a series of sporting challenges. With free car parking on site, the NOS course is open for a long period of time allowing multiple-race entries and the opportunity to relax in the one-of-a-kind surroundings of Jebel Sifah.
Participants will earn themselves a special NOS t-shirt, and a colour coded NOS wristband. The more races participants complete in the year, the more wristbands they earn with the season ending race open only to those who have achieved sufficient race distinction.
Located a 40-minute drive from the capital Muscat and a world away from the stress of everyday life, Jebel Sifah is nestled between the towering peaks of the Al Hajjar Mountains and the tranquil crystal waters of the Arabian Sea. Since its launch in 2008 by Muriya, Jebel Sifah has become Muscat’s premier getaway destination boasting a wide variety of freehold properties, and premium amenities including the four-star Sifawy Boutique Hotel, the 9-hole Harradine Golf Course, the widely successful The Bank Beach Club, as well as a diverse range of restaurants and thrilling water activities.
NOS is a proud Omani brand that is also generating interest in the wider GCC. Talking about the rapid growth of the event and the launch of the second season, Nic Cartwright Sabco Sports Managing Director, said: “There are some exciting new options for those who love family fun and challenging themselves. The second season will see more of Oman’s best locations host the obstacle-based running challenge including this edition at Jebel Sifah.”
The Sabco Sports Workout Tour commences this Friday, free of charge, at the athletics track at Sultan Qaboos Sports complex from 8am. The workout is open to the general public, and anyone wanting to get ready to tackle the NOS challenge course. The workout will be available every weekend moving forward supported by the Alpha Movement Specialist and Wellness Advocate.
