If it looks good, it must be good.
It looks too good to be true.
You have heard these sayings before, but which one holds most water? Which one to believe in?
When you work in Sports Marketing – when you work in Marketing – when you work in business full stop – the way you look, the way you act, the way you are perceived is certainly of huge importance. The power of appearances is something that every sports business needs to be aware of.
If you can be seen to be doing a good job, odds are, your client base is going to rise.
What does this mean…? The little things are important; cover all your bases, don’t let something that might seem small be the thing that lets you down. Treat people well, communicate well, think about how you will appear.
If this sounds like stuff you should do to be a good business anyway – then well done, you are right. The best way to look good is to be good. Please don’t forget that appearance is important, but here at Sabco Sports, we believe that the power of appearances is built on a base of doing the job well.
This is for the work we do ourselves, and for the approach that we advise to our partners. Do a good job, and then make sure you tell people about it. Be proud of how hard you work, celebrate the success that you have…. But build it on doing a great job.
If you don’t look good whilst you do something (even if it is good) – the chances are that people will get the wrong impression. If you look good, but are not doing things well – you may be able to hide it for a while, but you will probably end up working harder to hide this, than if you just focused on getting things good to start with.
So for us – appearance is key, but the key to looking good is to be good!!
Hard work started a long time ago, and continues NOW.
